The official statement from AMC also announces that the flagship series has 30 more episodes that will run through late 2022.

AMC has announced that their long-running zombie series The Walking Dead will run for an additional 24 episodes comprising the eleventh season of the show.

The remaining portion of season 10 has been extended for an additional six episodes that continue after the finale of the conflict with the Whisperers. Compiled with the additional season, there are 30 episodes still in set to happen before the ending of The Walking Dead scheduled for late 2022.

In an official statement from AMC, the announcement of a new spinoff series surfaced. “As “The Walking Dead” universe continues to expand, the original series will be followed by a greenlit spin-off focused on the popular Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) characters, which will premiere in 2023 and be run by current “The Walking Dead” showrunner Angela Kang, who co-created the series with Scott M. Gimple, chief content officer of “The Walking Dead” Universe.”

The statement would go onto confirm additional content being created to further develop the world of The Walking Dead. “AMC is also working with Gimple to develop a new “Tales of the Walking Dead” series, an episodic anthology with individual episodes or arcs of episodes focused on new or existing characters, backstories or other stand-alone experiences. The company, working closely with Gimple, is also developing a number of other new and innovative projects grounded in “The Walking Dead” universe.”

The supplemental programming like Fear the Walking Dead makes it’s return for a fifth season starting on October 4th. The franchise will also debut a new series focused on the first generation to emerge from the apocalypse with “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” set to premiere on October 11th.
