For graphic novel fans, Z2’s reputation precedes itself. The popular illustration house crafts the crossover universe between music and comics, with notable collaborations including Yungblud, Babymetal, and Gorillaz. The latest installment in this series will bring Orlando rockers Alter Bridge to life with Alter Bridge: Tour of Horror, coming November 2021.

The team behind the 120-page hardcover release is spearheaded by Marvel’s Emily Ryan Lerner, whose vision of a missing Alter Bridge roadie elevates into supernatural torment. For collectors of music memorabilia, the news only gets better: for the first time ever, a vinyl edition of Alter Bridge’s inaugural record One Day Remains can be purchased with the deluxe graphic novel package. Featuring the four piece’s mega hit “Metalingus,” the 2004 release put the band on the radar of hard rock enthusiasts.

While Tour of Horrors is Alter Bridge’s first foray into comics, they have always colored outside the lines of the music business. With their work being used in the WWE, Major League Baseball, and NASCAR, the band is known to inspire adrenaline-pumping passion. Working with Z2 provided an opportunity to dip their toes into a chilling 2D depiction of their likeness. “After 17 years making music and touring the world, there aren’t many opportunities for a rock band to do something they’ve never done before,” Alter Bridge says. “After partnering with Josh and the whole Z2 staff to create Alter Bridge: Tour of Horrors, we can now check ‘create a horror comic’ off our bucket list.”

With only 3,000 issues in circulation, Tour of Horrors will be in demand by fans of Alter Bridge and horror anthologies alike. Publisher John Frankel strives to appeal to both audiences as well as their likely intersection, stating, “our mission is simply to provide a home for these musicians to expose their fans to a whole new side of their artistic palette, uninhibited by their previous musical work or otherwise.”

In addition to this collaboration, Z2 also has comics featuring King Diamond, The Doors, and All Time Low on tap for this year.
