Andrew Dabb, showrunner of Supernatural, will write the upcoming zombie apocalypse series

Originally announced back in 2020, mega zombie franchise Resident Evil is getting its first ever live-action television series. After years of consistent film adaptations of the original video game series, including last year's most recent big screen release Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, the franchise is now set to take over streaming television over at Netflix.

The series follows will take place across two timelines and follows Jade Wesker – daughter of familiar Resident Evil character Albert Wesker – as she fights for survival in a world overrun by blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation, but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.

The eight-episode series stars Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker, Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, and Paola Nuñez. The series is written by Andrew Dabb (Supernatural) and will have Bronwen Hughes (The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad) executive-produce and direct the first two episodes. The first official posters for the series have been released, check them out below.

'Resident Evil' premieres exclusively on Netflix July 14th 2022.
