Fierce Bites: October '22 Menu

- By Harris David

We here at Knotfest have scoured the country to find some of the best metal and horror themed restaurants, bars, and cafes. Fierce Bites combines menu items from these restaurants and bars to create a monthly menu that will have you drooling over yourself.

Fall-elujah, it's time for autumn skies and pumpkin pies! Did you cringe while reading that? Well, we're not apologizing because we LOVE the Fall. We love the beers, the food, but more importantly, the weather. This month's menu encompasses everything autumnal. We're hitting you with another beer, monthly burgers and pizzas, monster milk shakes and a special sandwich.

We said it last month but it's worth stating again, Fall is the season of the foodie. This month's menu has you covered with beer, boozy milk shakes, a heavy dose of burgers and pizza and a sandwich named after Gwarsenio Hall, host of the metal-themed 'Two Minutes to Late Night.' October has delivered us new monthly menu items from Grill Em All, Kuma's Corner and Sizzle Pie. Whether you're into October because it's spooky season or because your favorite band is rolling into your town, we have the menu items for you. For you spooky folks, Zombie Burger + Drink Lab is offering some awesome monster cereal milk shakes. And since Rocktober is upon us, Almanac Beer Co has you covered with their appropriately named "Rocktoberfest" lager. We hope you dig this month's menu as much as we do. Cheers!

Grill 'Em All - The Official Ozzy Burger

Grill Em'All was started by Chef Ryan Harkins and former professional wrestler Matt Chernus. They served gourmet burgers out of a food truck back in 2009. Before opening up their heavy metal themed brick and mortar they won the first ‘Great Food Truck Race’ and were featured on the ‘Best Thing I Ever Ate.’ Their popularity led them to lay their food trucks to rest and serve burgers and fries out their restaurant in Alhambra, California.

Fierce Bites staple, Grill Em' All always has an awesome burger of the month to go along with already stacked burger menu. But for October, they did something really special. To celebrate the Prince of Darkness and his new record, 'Patient Number 9,' Grill 'Em All has created a truly unique burger. Ozzy's burger drapes a half pound burger patty with house-made chimichurri, garlic aioli, blue cheese, onion frizzle and field greens encased in black buns.

Zombie Burger + Drink Lab - Monster Cereal Milk Shakes

Zombie Burger + Drink Lab are famous for their inventive flavor combos and once you look through their menu you'll see just how inventive they can get. The GOREmet eatery evokes a classic roadside burger stand but in a 'post apocalyptic chic' setting. They proudly pair fresh ingredients with expert preparation. Zombie Burger features their very own custom three-cut beef burger blend, specially-crafted buns, and hand-mixed shakes.

October's menu is going to spotlight the 'Drink Lab' part of this GOREmet restaurant, specifically their hand-mixed shakes. The shakes are all made with real ice cream and all kinds of fun ingredients like cake mix, peach purée, Oreo crumbs and they even offer a spiked option. You read that right, you can add booze to your milk shake. The boozy options include Tippy Cow Chocolate Rum Cream, Dr. McGillicuddy's Raw Vanilla Liqueur, Tequila Rose Strawberry Cream, Rumchata and Kahlúa.

As if their shake menu wasn't stacked enough, Drink Lab is offering Monster Cereal Milk Shakes for the month of October. They use Frankenberry, Boo Berry, Count Chocula and Frute Brute cereals and mix them with vanilla ice cream and different purées. And yes, you can add booze to all of them.

Almanac Beer Co. - Rocktoberfest

Almanac was founded in 2011 by Damian Fagan and Jesse Friedman, two avid home-brewers who bonded over a mutual appreciation for California farmers markets. The name refers to the Farmer’s Almanac, a seasonality reference guide for farmers that has been published every year in the U.S. since 1818. They set out to brew beers inspired by California’s rich agriculture. Their broad portfolio of beers spans the gamut from delicate oak-aged lagers, to nuanced barrel-aged sours, decadent stouts, and the ever popular hazy IPAs.

It's only right we continue the festbier trend we started last month with Almanac's Rocktoberfest. This traditional festbier is brewed with authentic German barley and full of rich toasted Weyermann Barke Pilsner, Munich and Caramunich malts. The 5% ABV German-style lager has a light body and refreshing crispness.

Epic Deli - Gwarsenio Hall

This popular McHenry, Illinois eatery is known for their subs, sandwiches, chimichangas, crazy appetizers, craft beer, cold brew coffee, and dessert. Whether you're Vegan, vegetarian, keto/low carb or just an over-indulging carnivore; they have something for you.

Named after Gwarsenio Hall, host of 'Two Minutes to Late Night,' this vegan sandwich has pulled jack fruit tossed in a PBR BBQ sauce and topped with Vegan coleslaw, banana peppers, house-made quick pickles and salt & vinegar kettle cooked potato chips served on a toasted pretzel bun.

Kuma's Corner - Embryonic Autopsy

Kuma’s started in 2005 with its flagship location at the corner of Belmont and Francisco avenues in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood. From their origins as a corner bar with solid American bistro fare, they’ve grown to five locations that offer the finest burgers available on this planet or any other.

Our Fierce Bites faithful know Kuma's Corner comes correct with a crazy burger of the month inspired by some of their favorite bands. This month's offering is inspired by death metal giants, Embryonic Autopsy. The burger takes Kuma's 10oz burger and tops it with a cilantro aioli, General Tso's sauce, tortilla strips, a fried egg and cilantro.

Sizzle Pie - Rosemary's Baby

Founders Matt Jacobson and Mikey McKennedy came together and envisioned an independent pizzeria that would serve up the perfect slice. In 2011, they opened up their first location on East Burnside Street in Portland, Oregon. Since then, they have consistently ranked in the top 10 independent pizzerias in the country. They serve East Coast style slices and pies with a healthy blend of West Coast flair by turning the freshest, highest-quality ingredients into tried and true classics with bold new pizza visions in a variety of meat, veggie, and vegan options.

We went with an extremely carnivore friendly pizza last month, but we're back on the Vegan bandwagon with this beautiful pie. Vegan or not, you're going to want their Vegan Alfredo, Vegan cheese blend, 'Thrilling Foods' Bakon, roasted Yukon Gold potatoes and fresh rosemary topped pizza.
