Archetypes Collide Take On An Alt-Rock Anthem With LIT's "My Own Worst Enemy"

The emerging Arizona outfit modernize a generational hit with a rendition that pays homage to the original, while daring to make it their own.

25 years, nearly to the date that Orange County-bred alt rock vets LIT performed at the legendary Woodstock 99, Arizona collective Archetypes Collide have reimagined their iconic track, "My Own Worst Enemy" for a new generation of fans.

Following a pivotal 2023 that saw the arrival of the band's self-titled debut via Fearless Records, along with a healthy workload of subsequent touring, the unit from the desert have better refined their innovative brand of aggression, while continuing to keep their foot on the gas.

Dropping a deluxe edition of their introductory album this year, in addition to a pair of potent singles in the hard-hitting  "Parasite" and the melody-forward "Destiny", Archetypes Collide's latest presentation indulges their personal rock music pedigree and revisits an anthem that still resonates a generation after it first landed.

'My Own Worst Enemy' carries a massive amount of nostalgia for us," the band explained. "When we decided to cover it, we knew we had to do it justice, and at the same time, make it our own. We switched up the instrumental to a darker vibe and it instantly gave the lyrics a whole new meaning and made for a super unique take on the song."

Ratcheting up the intensity of the famously light-hearted track, Archetypes Collide's added musical muscle casts the song in a new light - one that dares to go from sun-soaked Southern California to something a bit more sinister in style and sound. Meaty guitars, sturdy percussion and the audacity to execute well-timed breakdown in alt-rock anthem make for a memorable take on an all time classic.
