Enigmatic heavy music force Swollen Teeth have returned with their long-awaited reveal of new music - the first unveiling of new material since the emphatic arrival of their 2023 self-titled EP. Earning the co-sign of Slipknot's Sid Wilson, the elusive crew of new school aggressors, with Wilson onboard as producer, would help launch Blowed Out Records as the label's inaugural release.
The passion project of legendary producer Ross Robinson, the union of creative forged the beginning of potent partnership - one intent on pushing the status quo of what contemporary heavy music could be.
For the band's most recent offering, "Family", Swollen Teeth further asserts their commitment to pushing the envelope creatively, disregarding genre lines and constructing heavy music on their own terms. The unconventional approach, combined with the band's convincing message of community and chosen family results in a powerful track intended to connect with the outcasts.
Offering some insight on the new release, the band shared of the single, "New flowers bloom only once the wilted return to soil. This is our way of saying WELCOME to the world. FAMILY."
Echoing that sentiment, producer Sid Wilson further elaborated on the weight of the single and the significance of the message at the root of Swollen Teeth's music. "Swollen Teeth, horns down movement. A safe space created to epress and shed your feelings, and become a new, better version of yourself for your FAMILY."
Ross Robinson would also offer his assessment of the new track and the current trajectory of Swollen Teeth. "'Family' showcases the incredible empathy these guys possess. Their main concern is to be a place of safety and home for those who are or just feel thrown away. ST is a killer band and an amazing reason for ripping sick jams, I love that so much."
The standalone single in "Family" arrives as Swollen Teeth prepare to unleash their live performance at this year's Knotfest Iowa festivities. Among a fresh crop of new, emerging voices featured on the bill, Swollen Teeth with be flanked by the likes of Zulu, Dying Wish, vended, Holy Wars and more representing the next class in heavy music.
Ahead of the showing at Knotfest Iowa, Swollen Teeth have submitted a rare glimpse into their world for the Knotfest Uncaged series. Led by Swollen Teeth's Megaa, the clip navigates the psyche of the band, the message of their movement and explores the ambitions of Swollen Teeth and the community that nurtures that. Uncaged offers a first-hand vantage point of the method to the madness at the core of Swollen Teeth all while adding to the lore that continues to surround the mysterious entity.
