A24's New Comedy/Horror 'Y2K' Is Packed With Late 90's Nostalgia

The Jonah Hill-produced includes a Fred Durst cameo and revises history to create a universe where the Y2K bug was real and the end of times happened at dial-up speed.

Taebo, Tamagatchi and "Tubthumping"... the latest trailer for A24 apocalyptic horror comedy Y2K has just revealed a new trailer and the anticipation is now at an all time high.

The film was written and directed by Kyle Mooney along with co-writer Evan Winter and stars Jaeden Martell, Julian Dennison and Rachel Zegler. Produced by Jonah Hill, the December release revisits the mania of late 1999 as the world prepared to close one century and begin another.

Revising history, the film frames what it would have been like if the Y2K computer glitch that doomsdayers swore was imminent actually did happen. Combining the timeless formula of a high school house party flick with the world crippling crash of the world's global digital infrastructure, the film combines 90's nostalgia with end of times horror for what looks like a fun, kinda fucked, big screen romp.

Paying homage to the era with a heavy dose of pop culture references, the most recent trailer from the A24 feature film also includes a very brief cameo from none other than Fred Durst. Seen twice, once in what looks like the present day and the other in his iconic red Yankees hat, the appearance offers a rad tip of the hat to the heyday of 90's nu-metal.

Check the trailer for Y2K below. The film releases wide December 6th.
