Extreme music mystics Blood Incantation have announced the wide release of All Gates Open: In Search Of Absolute Elsewhere. The 73-minute documentary and original motion picture soundtrack was first released as part of the deluxe Absolute Elsewhere Artbook. For the first time ever, the film and the soundtrack will receive a standalone release with it's own emphasis.
All Gates Open frames the band's time in Berlin in the summer of 2023 and their work inside the hallowed walls of the famed Hansa Studios for what would become the sessions for their acclaimed 2024 marvel, Absolute Elsewhere. Among the legendary albums made inside the iconic studio include David Bowie's Heroes, Iggy Pop's Lust for Life and a source of inspiration for Blood Incantation, Tangerine Dream's Force Majeure.
First unveiled as bonus content the initial limited release of All Gates Open (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) also featured the 2023 single “Luminescent Bridge” on CD for the first time ever. The soundtrack was an accompaniment to the Absolute Elsewhere artbook that included exclusive liner notes, interviews and photos from the band, along forward by Ross Dolan of Immolation.
Now, All Gates Open, both the soundtrack and documentary film, will finally get its flowers as its own achievement with a wide release set for June 5th via Century Media. For the soundtrack specifically, the four compositions first took shape in 2021, asserting Blood Incantation’s immense musical acumen. Sourcing ambient synth and acoustic instrumentation, the result functioned as the opening of a creative portal that would eventually led to Absolute Elsewhere. Guitarist/vocalist Paul Riedl describes All Gates Open as the “yang energy” to the otherworldly air of Timewave Zero.
Riedl further elaborated on the standalone release of All Gates Open. “It’s not the next album or follow-up to 'Absolute Elsewhere', it’s the soundtrack to the documentary about making the album with songs that are from before.” He further adds: “The documentary deserves to be experienced, not just as content for the internet. The soundtrack captures the very first seed of what led to Absolute Elsewhere. This is where that era started.”
The film was directed by Niklas Tschaikowsky and Tammo Dehn with the accompanying Soundtrack mixed and master ed by the incomparable, Arthur Rizk. The release will be available in multiple formats including a Blu-ray edition, vinyl variants as well as a full digital album release. The album also features analog collage artwork by Jodie Day,
