California punk collective Ceremony have shared another preview from their pending August 7th release, Tell Me Your Dream. The Relapse Records release marks the band's seventh full length studio effort - a project mounting anticipation with previous singles "Other Hells" and "Death Destruction. Mayhem" already garnering widespread acclaim.
Leaning into the band's post punk pedigree, Ceremony have shared the latest single, "Dark Summer." Combining the band's hardcore and punk rock foundation, the stylistically dark track showcases evolved songwriting from one of the genre's most forward thinking units.
Ceremony's Ross Farrar shared some insight on the latest preview, “In Rock ‘n Roll music, feedback occurs when a guitar is purposely moved too close to an amplifier – like a dark summer – when dread finds you amid brilliant sunshine, it feels disorienting, confusing, and chaotic. What you’re left with is malaise, doldrums of sorts that are both beautiful and terrifying.”
For Tell Me Your Dream, Ceremony reconevened with producer John Reis of Rocket from the Crypt and Hot Snakes. The pairing first found a synergy in 2015 when Reis produced Ceremony's The L-Shaped Man. Taking on an even greater role as a friend and collaborator, guitarist/keyboardist Anhtony Anzaldo. explained just how instrumental the producer was this time around. "John sort of joined the band on this one. We could not respect him more as a guitarist, as a singer, as a songwriter. He understands what it’s like to be in every position. So we really gave him the keys.”
Shortly following the release of Tell Me Your Dream, Ceremony will ride out on a comprehensive North American tour. Along with a rotating roster of support from the likes of Poison Ruin, World Peace, Iron Lung, Dry Socket and more, the tour begins September 9th in Montreal and wraps November 20th in Los Angeles.
