Hardcore veterans Comeback Kid have announced their eighth full length studio album, Chosen Hell. Due out November 6th via SharpTone Records in the U.S. and Dine Alone Records in Canada, the project finds the band linking with revered producer Will Putney to unlock a new level of intensity as the band begins their next chapter of their already enduring career run.
Frontman Andrew Neufeld explained how working with Putney for the latest record was a natural choice. "He's also been a supporter of ours from the get, so he knows where we’re coming from and really understood our vision. We all played to our strengths as best we could, and I think that’s really apparent in the final product."
Along with the oversight from Putney, Chosen Hell also touts some added firepower in the form of a few guest appearances. With contributions from Spiritbox powerhouse Courtney LaPlante and Incendiary's own Brendan Garrone, the collective quality of the album is something Neufeld is proud of.
"Overall, I was able to let my guard down a little bit while writing for this one, and took more input from everybody else," adds Neufeld. "It was really collaborative that way, which is also kind of new for us."
Paired with the announcement of the new album, Comeback Kid have shared the title track of the presentation, pointing to the full scope of their next phase. Asserting the band's punk DNA and hardcore pedigree, the single is a gutpunch styles underscores the band is as good as they have ever been.
"The theme of the title track 'Chosen Hell' on our new album touches on morality and ethics," explained Neufeld. "Something as simple as right or wrong. Good or evil. Healthy or unhealthy, and our ability to make a choice. Often, we are incapable of choosing the right thing, and we find ourselves in situations that we know hold us back, therefore affecting our own well being. The outcome is what we make of it."
Riding out in support of Chosen Hell, Comeback Kid will take on a slate of live dates with support from the likes of The Warriors, Defeater, Dead Heat, Barrio Slam and more. See the confirmed list of dates and cities below.
