Punk aggressors Counterparts have surprised fans with an unexpected EP release, Heaven Let Them Die. The six-track effort marks the first studio release from the band via Pure Noise Records and follows the acclaim of their Live In Toronto LP that landed earlier this year.
Marking the band's first showing of new material since 2022's well-received A Eulogy for Those Still Here, the latest EP showcases the Canadian collective at arguably their heaviest yet - compiling six songs that emphasize a more aggressive version of the band, unlocking a bold new iteration of the hardcore/punk amalgam.
"Heaven Let Them Die is Counterparts at our most aggressive — sonically, lyrically and visually," underlined frontman Brenden Murphy. The vocalists would also go onto explain how the EP is a continuation of what the band built on their 2022 release.
"Picking up where Eulogy ended, Heaven Let Them Die details how I came to terms with all I had foreshadowed in the previous release and how that led me to where I am now. This EP is the most authentic representation of Counterparts to date — honest, harsh and without restraint."
