(Hed) P.E. Taps Into Young Love and Heartbreak On the Single, "Waiting"

- By Ramon Gonzales

The third cut previews the band's forthcoming Suburban Noize Records full length, Detox.

G-punk lifers (Hed) P.E. are set to deliver their their fourteenth studio album next month via Suburban Noize Records with the debut of Detox. An amalgam of metal, hip-hop, reggae and punk, the band's veteran status spans more than two decades as trailblazers of the sound.

The result of a collaborative exchange between frontman and band architect Jared Gomes and songwriting partner Remy Dovianus, Detox further builds upon the band's legacy as OGs - daring to embrace various styles and subgenres to make something all their own.

Sharing a third preview from the album, the band have released the track "Waiting" - a cut that examines the highs and lows of young love. Detailing the headspace that prompted the track, Gomes explained, "This one's a rock banger, and I fell in love with it from the moment I heard the instrumental. The song 'Waiting' was inspired by my son's heartbreak. Witnessing your child go through the trials of young love provides a different perspective on things. It allowed me to relive some of my own youthful experiences."

Enlisting director Joshua Petrino to helm the visual, "Waiting" stars young actress Sophia Lucia who is set to appear in the next installment of the  Ghostbusters franchise, Frozen Empire.

The ambitious music video and the pending release of Detox segues to the next iteration of (Hed) P.E. The band is currently working on a feature film derived from their love of the graphic novel. Detox: Planet Earth. Set in a post-apocalyptic future where an authoritarian government and greedy corporations have absolute power, each track on Detox the album will serve as its own chapter in a tale of dystopian peril.

More than two decades in the game (Hed) P.E. are still working to build their brand, evolve their art and forge a their legacy. Be sure to catch the band on the road later this month as they close out 2023 with The Million Watts Tour along with Nonpoint, Sumo Cyco and Vrsty. See a list of dates and cities below.
