High On Fire Score ZETA and High Command for 'Cometh the Storm' US Tour

High On Fire Score ZETA and High Command for 'Cometh the Storm' US Tour

- By Ramon Gonzales

The tour culminates with a headlining set at Dark Lord Day in Chicago with Abbath, Fugitive 1349 and Spiritworld.

Last month, heavy practitioners High On Fire confirmed their next full length effort, Cometh the Storm. Setting an April 19th arrival date, the album serves as the band's ninth studio full length and the first since 2018's Electric Messiah. The album also is the first to feature the configuration of drummer Coady Willis (Big Business, Murder City Devils), alongside bassist Jeff Matz, and guitarist/vocalist Matt Pike.

Enlisting revered producer Kurt Ballou of Converge to helm the project, Cometh the Storm bears the added significance of coinciding with High On Fire's 25th anniversary as a band.

Paired with the news, High On Fire also shared the mammoth first single  "Burning Down". Coupled with a haunting visual directed by Lars Kristoffer Hormander, the introduction is one that suggests Cometh the Storm is HoF operating at a new creative peak.

In celebration of the band's forthcoming full length, High On Fire have also confirmed a stretch of US tour dates kicking off May 4th in Orlando, Florida and closing out May 18th in Chicago for a headlining set at the annual Dark Lord Day at 3 Floyds Brewing along with Abbath, Fugitive, 1349 and Spiritworld.

Set to join High On Fire for the run of dates, post-rock collective ZETA will anchor the direct support slot with highly-touted crossover prospects High Command opening each evening of the tour.

"High on Fire legion! We are stoked to take the stage in a city near you as we bring 'Cometh the Storm' to life," shared the band. "Looking forward to a triumphant run of shows and reuniting with friends. See you soon!"
