Swedish metal music progressives Imminence have announced the motion picture companion to their most ambitious studio album to date, Axis Mundi. Due out October 2nd via Sumerian Records, the presentation frames the epic quest of the central protagonist in the Immortal Knight in a battle of good and evil, in the form of his opposition, the Shadow.
Thus far previewed by the trio of colossal singles, “The Sword That Never Bends” along with“False Light” and “If Not Now, When” which further build out the band's immersive universe, the film adaptation brings the story full circle with entries from the album along with previously unheard music from Imminence.
“Someone told us: ‘You’re such a cinematic band, you should take it to the next step and make a movie.’ You can’t just say that to a band like Imminence,” guitarist Harald Barrett explained of the project.
Barrett, along with vocalist Eddie Berg and a host of collaborators in album artist Jakob Koc, scriptwriter Juan Felipe Zul and director Pavel Trebukhin worked in tandem to create the cinematic extension that would do the album justice. With both the film and the album informing one another, the big screen adaptation speaks to the band's depth of vision and their commitment to expanding the boundaries of heavy music.
