The announcement follows his recent work with funk metal pioneers, Infectious Grooves.
Award-winning drummer Jay Weinberg has announced that he has been recruited as the new drummer for iconic thrash punk pillars, Suicidal Tendencies. The news follows Weinberg's recent work with funk metal collective Infectious Grooves anchored by Robert Trujillo and frontman Mike Muir. The band announced a reunion for 2024 and are currently working on new music with Weinberg on the beat.
The announcement of the latest addition to the Suicidal universe sees Weinberg bring his unmatched talent to the legendary Venice punk collective.
In a statement shared to his social media accounts, Weinberg conveyed a sincere sense of excitement to be a part of such a definitive, pioneering band.
"When I think of the culture and community of heavy music that I’ve loved and considered my creative home for 20 years, I think of SUICIDAL TENDENCIES: a foundational pillar and source of inspiration ever since I fell in love with punk, metal, and hardcore.
Having toured and played shows together all over the world, I’ve been so fortunate to become friends with my musical heroes who have been a part of this band’s incredible history. It’s an absolute honor and privilege to play with Suicidal Tendencies and I can’t wait to start this incredibly exciting new chapter in just one week! See you all in the pit!"
Suicidal Tendencies are set to perform several festival dates. Domestically, the band is slated to perform at the Punk in the Park Pre-Party in San Francisco as well as the massive No Values Festival with The Original Misfits, Social Distortion, Turnstile and many more.
