Metalcore prospects Kingdom of Giants continue their charge towards the November 13th release of their next full length presentation, Usurper. Launching via SharpTone Records, the pivotal release marks the arrival of the band's own Dana Willax as producer, taking a true hands-on approach in addition to his lead as frontman.
Last month's announcement of Usurper marks Kingdom of Giants' first full length release since 2020's acclaimed Passenger. Building on the band's stylistic progression with the EPs, Bleeding Star (2024) and Burning Chrome (2025), the latest full length offers the most complete version of unit to date.
With a succession of singles in "Respawn," "The Edge of a Dream" and the crushing glitch of "Reign," the band submit another anthemic offering with "10 Cent Martyr". Distilling electronic elements, pop sensibilities and metalcore dynamics, the single delivers conviction while asserting the band's sonic arsenal.
This track for us was a way to branch out from the classic metalcore style riffs and try something that feels fresh once you get deeper into the album," says singer Dana Willax. "I got to experiment with a lot of vocal tones on this song and I really enjoy how big the contrast is between JT and I on this track."
Speaking previously of the personal and professional scope of the album, Willax confided, "The last five years have been full of highs, lows, wins, losses, and roadblocks but at the end of the day we are just so happy and fortunate to continue making music that we love and to share it with anyone who cares to listen.
We put our hearts and souls into this album and even though start to finish it only took us eight months, it's feels like it's 15 years in the making. I'm so thankful to the guys for everything they brought to the table in this process. It felt good to all be jammed into one room and hash out all our ideas in person like the good old days."
Hitting the road in support of Usurper, Kingdom of Giants begin their live run with Deadlands, Holy Wars and Night Rider next month. The trek begins November 14th in Seattle and closes out December 18th in Sacramento, CA. See a list of dates and cities below.
