Luis Vazquez of The Soft Moon Has Reportedly Died

Luis Vasquez, better known as the one man post-punk project The Soft Moon, has reportedly died at just 44 years of age. Preliminary reports have also confirmed that pioneering techno practitioner Juan Mendez, known as Silent Servant, as well as Mendez's partner Simone Ling have also passed. 

At the time of this report, no official cause of death has been released. 

Vazquez earned acclaimed as The Soft Moon, releasing a health slate of championed post punk under both the Captured Tracks and most recently Sacred Bones labels. Vasquez's most recent effort in 2022's Exister, became a fiture atop many year-ending best of lists. 

Inspired by the unconventional approach of SWANS and the proto-synth of Suicide, Vasquez's catalog is regarded as one of the most consistent, contemporary showcases in modern post punk.
