Following a whirlwind campaign that included a relentless, global touring run in support of their lauded 2022 LP, Malicious Intent, Sheffield's stand-up OGs Malevolence have announced their next iteration, confirming their new studio album, Where Only the Truth is Spoken.
The band's fourth full length presentation arrives June 20th via MLVLTD in partnership with Nuclear Blast Records. Working with accomplished producer Josh Wilbur, the collection of tracks further asserts the band's position as ever relevant and still ascending - achieving a new plateau of aggression while showcasing savvy songwriting and explosive energy.
Sharing their confidence in the next phase for Malevolence, the band beamed about what lies ahead armed with new music. "'Where Only the Truth Is Spoken’ is a level up in every sense—musically, lyrically, and visually. This was our first time recording outside the UK, and doing it in LA with Josh Wilbur was fun and refreshing. He’s worked with some of the biggest names in metal, and his approach pushed us to challenge new heights. The production, the songwriting, the videos—everything about this record is bigger, heavier, and more refined."
The band emphasized the collective, collaborative dynamic at the core of connection and shared how that played an important part in achieving what they set out to do in the studio. "Everything in Malevolence is, and always has been, a team effort and I feel like everyone really delivered on this record."
Finally, the band expressed a sincere sense of gratitude to the fans and spoke to the shared experience that is Malevolence. "To everyone who supports what we do, thank you. It goes without saying that we wouldn’t be in this position if it wasn’t for your overwhelming support. I’m excited to see where the journey goes next!
Malevolence
Made in God’s own country,
Where Only The Truth Is Spoken"
Along with the news of the pending album, Malevolence has shared the scorching single, following the release of "Trenches" late last year with "If It's All the Same To You". Doubling down on the idea on stepping up, the accompanying music video frames the band's most ambitious production yet in the form of a an art heist and subsequent police chase. The music video that plays out like a short film also features some added star-power, with Alan Ford joining the ensemble cast. Ford is best known for his role as Brick Top in the Guy Ritchie British gangster classic, Snatch.
En route to the release of Where Only the Truth Is Spoken, Malevolence continue to boost their rep as road dogs. The band is currently closing out the remaining dates of their US tour with Counterparts which closes this weekend with a finale in Detroit, MI at St. Andrew's Hall. From there, the band will trek to Australia for a mammoth tour supporting Alpha Wolf through the month of May. A complete list of dates and cities can be found below.
