Last month, Floridian black doom outliers WORM announced their Century Media full length debut, Necropalace and unveiled their first-ever music video with the launch of their Necropalace Short Film Series. Combining the band's cinematic soundtrack of dark atmospherics and theatric black doom, the visual source material referenced obscure 80s and 90s horror resulting in a tour de force for the duo's first official visual.
For the second installment in the Necropalace Shirt film Series, the tandem of Phantom Slaughter and Wroth Septentrion return with "Blackheart," - a stunning exploration of the occult that embraces eerie aesthetics with a broad musical bedrock that spans album rock, gothic greats and legendary death metal lineage.
Phantom Slaughter spoke of the depth of the latest track, “We consider this to be a gothic vampire love ballad. Sharing a different kind of emotion and color than the rest of the record. The lyrics touch on the isolation and loss one feels as a child of the night. Musically, ‘Blackheart’ fuses Avant-garde music era Katatonia and their love of Fields Of The Nephilim with icy AOR like FM (UK), Strangeways, and Harem Scarem. We could not leave behind our Floridian heritage so there are also frozen swamp nods to Death' 'Symbolic' as well as Crimson Glory.”
Enduring continuity, WORM again worked with the same personnel in director Norman Cabrera (Danzig, Walking Dead, Fright Night II), producer Maya Kay, colorist Alex Nicolaou (Drab Majesty) and entrusted the oversight of Ted Nicolaou (TerrorVision, Subspecies) to bring their vision for Necropalace to life.
Ensuring Necropalace achieved its full artistic potential, WORM enlisted trusted personnel to collaborate on the album, Charlie Koryn (Morbid Angel) took on the production role with the final and mix and master handled by the venerated Arthur Rizk
Necropalace also features only one especially significant special guest. Featured on the closing track of the album, "Witchmoon - The Infernal Masquerade," virtuoso Marty Friedman showcases his signature shred in what will no doubt bring the epic album to a climatic close.
Necropalace, the new album from WORM arrives February 13th via Century Media. Pre-orders are now available - HERE
