Punctuating what has been an incredible year for the unit from Sheffield, the metallic clobbering crew in Malevolence has debuted an aggressive standalone single with the blue-collar brass of "Trenches".
The presentation marks the first offering of new music since the band's lauded 2022 full length, Malicious Intent and presents the newly forged creatgive partnership with Grammy-winning producer, Josh Wilbur whose resume includes the likes of Lamb of God, Korn and Gojira just to list a few.
Coupled with the sonic assault that has become the stylistic signature of Malevolence, the track is paired with a sleek, straight-forward visual helmed in collaboration with in-demand director duo Double or Nothing Productions. Framing the band's working-class roots, the video and single work in tandem to highlight Malevolence's continued affront to metal's status quo - asserting new blood into the space of contemporary heavy music.
Speaking on the direction of the new single for the band, vocalist Alex Taylor offered the following and explained how the song is a return to form.
"Trenches is possibly the most aggressive, ignorant, and direct song we have ever written. Over the last few years, we’ve been playing more in the commercial metal circuit at festivals and arenas, so we wanted to take this opportunity to remind people that we still haven’t lost sight of where we came from. The lyrics are a declaration of not needing validation or approval, and a rejection of those who never supported the journey but only show their face when you achieve some level of success.”
