THE CURE - "ALONE" (Universal)

The long awaited announcement of the 14th full length studio album from The Cure in Songs of A Lost World has finally been confirmed with the release date set for November 1st - Day of the Dead fittingly enough. Coupled with the announcement, Robert Smith and company have issued the first single from the effort in "Alone" and it is every bit of melancholy masterpiece you would wait 14 years for. Smith's voice soars over warm synth, ethereal guitars and steady cadence that feels like a funeral procession through the pearly gates of heaven.
GAEREA - "SUSPENDED" (Season of Mist)

There is an enormity to the kind of extremity that emits from the universe of Gaerea. The Portuguese black metal agitators have delivered another mammoth preview of their pending full length, Coma, with a single that is utterly consuming with a compelling visual for added emphasis. Implementing more hushed instances than most Gaerea songs, "Suspended" also features clean vocals for the first time, a move that suggests the band is intent on keeping fans on their toes while also push their own creative threshold. As was in the intent, the song toes a fine line between the majestic and the menacing, asserting Gaerea are sitting on a potential album of the year.
KNOSIS -"FUHAI" (SharpTone Records)

Former frontman for Crystal Lake, Ryo Kinoshita, is charging ahead with his latest musical iteration, Knosis. Mounting a proper launch of the effort, the band was recently signed to SharpTone Records and has debuted a chaotic first showing with the single, "Fuhai". Roping in obvious influences ranging from metal to hardcore, the introductory track is an audio clobbering complete with a special guest assist from Yukina from rising Japanese metalcore sensation, Hanabie.
UNITYTX - "MASTICATE" (Pure Noise Records)

Following the launch of the band's well-received spring EP in Playing Favorites, the nu-era aggressors continue their streak of Ws with the drop of their latest genre-blurry, "Masticate". Combining an throbbing electronic backbeat with the dark, ominous vocals of frontman Jay Webster, the single underscores the band's hype is backed by a willingness to step outside the box and venture into new musical territory. With a headlining tour set to begin with Silly Goose and and Mugshot, the Texas unity is quickly become a band to pay close attention to.
