This week we have the latest from metalcore heavy hitters, nu metal upstarts, a fresh take on death metal, modern melodeath and so much more! For all of our favorite new releases, both singles and albums, be sure to check out the official Knotfest New Flesh playlist.

ATREYU – THE MOMENT YOU FIND YOUR FLAME EP – METALCORE

Kicking off this week we have the 2nd EP of the year from Atreyu. Highly melodic and catchy, Atreyu once again delivers total earworms rife with shredding guitars. All four tracks are electrifying with powerful vocals and enough variety to keep things interesting, while still familiar enough to make existing fans happy.

CREAK – DEPTH PERCEPTION – NU METAL/HARDCORE

Creak take nu metal and hardcore and go full akimbo smashing everything around them with unbridled energy. As heavy as they are musically, they are equally as heavy lyrically, dealing with metal health struggles, loss and grief. Stunning production and heavy in all the right places, it isn’t for the faint of heart, but is for those who want to grapple with their trauma.

HORRENDOUS – ONTOLOGICAL MYSTERIUM – DEATH METAL

Death metal meets NWOBHM? Yes, please! The genre mashup on this album is an absolute blast. Violently catchy, Horrendous is one to not miss when they come to town. These tracks were made for the live setting, where bodies and beer bottles will fly.

ORBIT CULTURE – DESCENT – MELODIC DEATH METAL

Orbit Culture has become one of metal’s biggest standouts with their striking approach to melodic death metal meets thrash. Their modern approach to melding staple genres and the always impressive vocals definitely make them one of the most exciting bands to keep an eye on. Descent is dense and dynamic, with layers upon layers and a lot to explore. Multiple listens are highly recommended.

RINGWORM – SEEING THROUGH FIRE – CROSSOVER THRASH

Get ready for the onslaught of bruises as you jump into the pit likely to start in your living room as soon as you put this on. Stank faces at the ready, the rage-filled crossover masterpiece will have you kicking while you windmill, or windmilling while you kick, whatever your coordinated enough to pull off.

SPIRIT ADRIFT – GHOST AT THE GALLOWS – HEAVY METAL

Let’s wrap up this week with some headbang inducing guitarmonies and infectious beats. Don your leather and let the beer bottles and chairs fly across the room, as you party to riffs so meaty they may not be vegan friendly. The psychedelic doom underpinnings require full stank face activation. All in all, just go have some fun with this.
