Following the recent confirmation of their A Darkness Is Spreading Across North America summer headlining tour, Alabama metallic hardcore phenoms NO CURE have made their next move with the confirmation of their debut full length album, It Is Going To Get Dark.
The album is due out July 10th via Sharptone Records and finds the band again working in close collaboration with Kevin Langley, locked away in sequester to better focus their ferocity on what will no doubt be an impactful full length introduction. Weaponizing their brand of sonic volatility fueled thematically by personal anguish, existential reckoning and erosion of societal infrastructure, It Is Going To Get Dark is a very apt indication of where NO CURE dare to explore.
Along with the news of the July LP release, the band have shared the blistering lead single with “Convulsing In The Dark”. Capturing the band's explosive delivery, the track is a relentless preamble of the pending 12-track barrage to come.
Vocalist Blaythe Steuer shared of the single, "Convulsing In The Dark brings our wide base of influences as a band into one song. It is the perfect taste of what is to come. The music video features full male nudity too, which is joyous, as Nick Chance's physical form was sculpted in the visage of a god. You are welcome for this divinely abundant opportunity to witness The Flesh Of The Chancellor."
Speaking to the greater, dismal context of the record, Steuer explained how personal loss, societal fracture and creative focus ultimately created the ideal climate for the band's first full length outing.
"There is a deep malaise overhead as we are subjected to the way the world is turning. It is clear that things are getting worse, and there is no end in sight. This fixation combined with the gruelling touring lifestyle we've lived the past few years has resulted in the perfect first No Cure LP. We recorded this deep in the woods of Alabama between tours, and loss surrounded the band as it was being written. Despite the great shows and tours we've been doing, this has been a painful time for the band. Each song has purpose and it is critically important that we deliver a record that is worth listening to from start to finish. If you don't see that it is going to get dark yet... you will soon."
In support of It Is Going To Get Dark, NO CURE will head out on the A Darkness Is Spreading Across North America tour will support from Big Ass Truck, I.E., Bayway, and Boltcutter. The tour begins July 9th in Baltimore, MD and closes out with the band's highly-anticipated set at Sound & Fury Festival on August 15th. A complete list of dates and cities can be found below.
