Paleface Swiss Introduce Third Full Length Album, 'Cursed'

- By Ramon Gonzales

Stream the pulverizing first single, "Hated" which ushers in the next era of the Swiss powerhouse.

Set to begin the new year with a bang, emerging aggressors Paleface Swiss have confirmed their due date of their third full length studio album, Cursed. Setting a January 3rd release date, the album finds the band collaborating with Ron Steven Deris at Misueno Studios along with long-time collaborator Florent Salfati of Landmvrks on what is the band's most ambitious undertaking to date.

As evidence of the band's leveling up, Paleface Swiss have shared the first single from the album with the pummeling preview packaged in "Hated". The unhinged first showing showcases the band's visceral amalgam of nu-metal and metalcore - bolstered by the rapid-fire delivery of vocalist Marc "Zelli" Zellweger.

Offering some insight to the theme of the single, Zelli spoke about how the song is a reflection of the current climate of prevalent negativity we are all living in. “When you’re a kid growing up, you're happy and you think everything is cool, but nowadays, every time you open your phone, it’s just a flood of negativity. We’re bombarded with so much bad news every day that finding anything positive feels nearly impossible."

Zelli went on to discuss how the single is only a shade of the album as a whole and spoke about how the music video was intended to be a brass-tacks showing of aggression - to best compliment the hostility of the single.

Hatred’ is us venting our frustration about the things we can’t change. It may not be as deep as the other tracks on the album, but it’s for everyone who’s fed up with the constant negativity in the world. For the music video, we wanted to keep it simple and raw—a no-nonsense, old-school performance video with us going as hard as we can in a room. There are, however, a few easter eggs hidden in there that will make more sense as we release more videos from this album.”

As for the depth of Curses, Zelli also shared how this release is especially significant in the story of Paleface Swiss. While the last few years have seen the band achieve important professional strides, Zelli confided how this album captured some of the growing pains that come along with chasing your dreams.

“This record is for sure our most personal one so far. We've always written about topics like mental health, but we’ve usually written about people who are really close to us. On this record there wasn’t really much space for stories from other people. Between the time when we released "Fear & Dagger "and writing this record, there were periods when this is how we all felt. I’d say 80% of these two years were filled with so much happiness and joy, which I’m really thankful for, but the few dark days that we had ARE this record.”

Along with the news of the next record from Paleface Swiss, the band have set their run of North America for next year with a tour that kicks of in March of 2025. The run begins March 20th, in Detroit, MI, spanning some 30 cities, including Los Angeles, New York, and Toronto - marking the band's biggest headlining stretch of the region thus far.
