Though speculation had been swirling for weeks, the recent surge of all things Slipknot has only served to amp the excitement of the band's newest acquisition behind the drum kit.
Preceding the nine's highlight showing at Sick New World in Las Vegas, the latest iteration of Slipknot was first unveiled to just a few hundred especially lucky fans for a rare underplay at Pappy and Harriet's in high desert of San Bernardino last week.
A thunderous presence behind the kit, the still unconfirmed force behind the kit, adorning a menacing, all-white mask, ripped through some of Slipknot's most enduring, intense tracks. The preview performance, in addition to the band's incendiary set at Sick New World, ushered in a new chapter of the band - one that not only harkened to the visceral feel of their seminal debut some 25 years ago, but also signaled the start of Slipknot's modern era.
Putting to bed all speculation, Slipknot has now officially confirmed that the man behind the mask is none other than virtuoso percussionist and former Sepultura drummer, Eloy Casagrande. The announcement from the band marks the first official acknowledgement of the change in personnel.
The announcement lands as the band are in the midst of a huge surge - recently confirming a special 25th anniversary celebration in their hometown of Des Moines for Knotfest Iowa and setting the dates for the North American leg of their Here Comes the Pain Tour along with special guests Knocked Loose.
