Atlanta outliers The Callous Daoboys have confirmed the May 16th arrival of their next full length musical odyssey, I Don't Want to See You In Heaven. The album serves as the follow-up to the band's celebrated 2022 LP, Celebrity Therapist and the acclaimed 2023 EP, God Smiles Upon the Callous Daoboys.
Asserting the band's signature, cerebral approach to heavy music, I Don't Want to See You In Heaven presents a cohesive, thematic take on the frequent artistic debate - ahead of its time, or rightfully panned as swill. As for the context of the album, the focal point is the Museum of Failure - a showcase of achievements in artistry, cataloged and curated for future generations to see. Genius or garbage - only time will tell.
Framing the album's 13 tracks like detailed exhibitions, the first entry of the presentation is the introductory double-single in "Two-Headed Trout/The Demon of Unreality Limping Like A Dog". A dizzying flurry of punchy dynamics and stylized volatility, the walloping one-two is The Callous Daoboys in all their tongue-in-cheek glory.
Coupled with a new cinematic video for both tracks, the latest from Callous Daoboys is speaks to the artistry that is core to the band and the limitless potential that characterizes one of heavy music's most exciting, emerging voices.
Vocalist Carson Pace shared of the single, "We would like to proudly present our first preview of the 'I Don’t Want to See You in Heaven' collection, ahead of its full release. These two pieces do not represent a thesis or mission statement of the collection, but rather two extremities. If you’re a fan of us being a rock band, I have good news for you. If you’re a fan of us being a chaotic metalcore band, I have GREAT news for you. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Enjoy.”
Speaking to the cohesiveness of the record and its thematic departure from their previous submissions, Pace further elaborated on the impetus for the Museum of Failure. “The album is an artifact that’s been preserved, and hundreds of years in the future, you’re listening to this album in the museum. It’s a known failure, but the narrative is ‘if it survives forever, is it truly a failure?'
Pace continued, “Everything is very singular and personal. I’m not making an album commenting on anything societal or political this time, this is an album just for me. It’s every emotion I’ve felt and sobering thought since 2021. I can only make this album now, not in three years when I’m thirty, not ten years ago when I was seventeen. This is the snapshot of 24-27. A scrapbook of trial and error, or better yet, a Museum of Failure.”
En. route to the release of I Don't Want to See You In Heaven, The Callous Daoboys have a healthy slate of tour dates ahead. First, the band will travel abroad for the EU/UK leg of the 25 Years of Noise World Tour supporting Silverstein and Thursday.
