The duo is currently serving as direct support on the Corey Taylor ‘CMF2’ tour.
The skyrocketing UK duo of Sam Matlock and Milkie Way, best known as Wargasm, have debuted the highly-anticipated music video their incendiary single, “Bang Ya Head”. The tandem first previewed the single last week as part of the rollout for their long-awaited full length debut LP set to arrive late next month in Venom.
Recruiting director Vicente Cordero, the clip really embraces the hook of the track, featuring a long-haired, headbanging protagonist, going about a day in the life while keeping consistent with some heavy-duty headbanging.
One half of Wargasm Sam Matlock offered a more practical explanation of headbanging and revealed how the break neck energy of the track is fueled by real life angst and frustration. “When I was working in bars it always drove me insane how much it costs us to live, and how little money we make. The worlds going fucking crazy and everything’s getting so expensive – how the fuck are we meant to buy a life? It’s just this nightmare cycle until you get lucky. Like banging your head against a brick wall over and over and over – you bang your head until you break your fucking neck.”
Matlock further added how the band channeled that hostility and harnessed it with the help of a real OG. “We took that energy and put it onto a guitar at our friend’s house in LA, then a microphone in a bathroom somewhere so the neighbors weren’t too pissed off, then we asked the one and only Fred Durst if he wanted to join in and he did – now we have this monstrosity. We’ve been waiting so damn long for you to hear this…”
The most recent preview of Venom follows the album’s introduction earlier this summer when Wargasm dropped the infectious “Do It So Good”. The album is due as the band closes out an extensive late summer/early fall US trek supporting Corey Taylor.
The trek is currently underway and extends through September, where the tour draws to a close at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on October 5th. Additional supporting dates see the duo joining the likes of Royal Blood and Babymetal – underscoring the band’s versatility and universal reach.
