Among the highlights from this year's Lollapalooza weekend in Chicago included a memorable set from Deftones. Adding to the anticipation of their appearance, the band also played an intimate warm-up gig at Chicago's Metro on August 1st - delivering a thrilling set for the 1000+ fans that were lucky enough to get in.
As for the band's showing at Grant Park over the weekend, Deftones were again without guitarist Stephen Carpenter. Just ahead of their appearance at The Metro, the band announced that Carpenter had come down with a "sudden Illness" and would not be able to participate.
Deftones would have Lance Jackman fill in for the majority of their stage time, with some additional support from Shaun Lopez who also touring with the band on guitar internationally and performs opposite Chino Moreno in Crosses.
The band's Lollapalooza set covered some of the band's most enduring entries with favorites from White Pony, Diamond Eyes, and the band's earliest albums Around the Fur and Adrenaline all making the cut. The only newer entry to be featured would be Deftones closer with "Genesis" from Ohms rounding out the band's time.
The performance was streamed in its entirety via HULU as part of the streaming giant's weekend broadcast of the festival. The pro-shot footage from the set can be found below.
