Tim Burton has had a long and treasured career bringing goth culture and aesthetics to the masses, with a vast resume of classic films under his belt like Edward Scissorhands, Batman, Sweeney Todd, Corpse Bride, and many more. Even casual movie fans are familiar with Burton's name and career.
But perhaps no other project with Burton's name attached is more iconic than 1988's Beetlejuice, a dazzling blend of horror, fantasy and comedy with a wildly energetic performance from Michael Keaton. Talks and rumors of a sequel have been swirling around for decades (think of all those fake movie posters on Facebook), with Burton and company denying that it was happening every time.
Now, over 30 years since the Deetz family first encountered the demonic and mischievous Betelgeuse, the time is nearly upon us for a return to that idyllic countryside house. A sequel, dubbed Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is set to be released this September with Keaton returning in the titular role once again, alongside Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara reprising their roles from the original.
Warner Bros has released the first official trailer, giving us our first look at the upcoming legacy sequel and its cast. New actors include Jenna Ortega (who Burton also directed in Netflix's Wednesday series), Monica Bellucci, Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux, and Burn Gorman. Check out the teaser trailer below and let us know if you're excited for the long-awaited return of the Ghost with the Most.
