Danish hard rock heroes Volbeat continue to trek in support of their ninth full length studio record, God of Angels Trust. The album marks the follow-up to 2021's Servant of the Mind and finds the band once again connecting with longtime producer and frequent collaborator, Jacob Hansen.
Unleashing their live showcase of succinct songwriting and mammoth rock anthems, Volbeat further deliver on their, "Greatest Of All Tours" worldwide campaign. Having already conquered the Canadian territory with the likes of Three Days Grace and special guests Wage War, Volbeat is currently riding out with Halestorm and The Ghost Inside. The US leg of the Greatest of All Tours precedes the closing European and UK stretch which includes special guests Bush and Witch Fever.
On the band's Southern California stop, The Kia Forum played host to a showcase of rock heavy showmanship - one balanced with reverence and revelry. Volbeat set thathigh bar in beginning their time by paying homage to the departed Ozzy Osbourne, with a snippet of Black Sabbath's "Children of the Grave" before opening with the thunderous back-to-back of "A Warrior's Call and "Pool of Booze, Booze, Booze".
Ensuring the "greatest" of the tour's title rang true, the band's set spanned their lengthy catalog and furnished a collection of essential tracks. From "Lola Montez," "The Devil's Bleeding Crown," along with an emphatic finale that paired "For Evigt" with "Still Counting," Volbeat played well to the fans and covered all of their bases.
The band also integrated their latest into a set of standards in a way that translated seamless. New entries including "Demonic Depression," "In the Barn of the Goat Giving Birth to Satan's Spawn in a Dying World of Doom" and the especially subversive "By A Monster's Hand" asserted Volbeat's sinister subtext and hard rock swagger, making for a cohesive set that bridged mandatory hits with the new favorites.
