This Christmas, acclaimed director Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman) is resurrecting a true horror classic: Nosferatu. The upcoming movie is based on Bram Stoker's original 1897 novel Dracula and acts as a remake of the 1922 silent film by F.W. Murnau. That's quite a lot to live up to, but with Eggers' impressive track record and this film in particular being dubbed a passion project of his, it looks like things are in some very capable hands.
Focus Features dropped the first full trailer for Nosferatu this week, giving us a serious good look and feel for how this fresh take on an old nightmare is going to unfold. Bill Skarsgård stars as the vampiric Count Orlok while Lily-Rose Depp stars as the object of his desire, the beautiful Ellen Hunter. The cast also includes Nicholas Hoult, Willem Dafoe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, and Simon McBurney.
"Robert Eggers’ NOSFERATU is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake."
'Nosferatu' creeps into theaters this December 25th.
