Continuing to integrate metal legends into the online warfare gaming space, the World of Tanks franchise is rolling out another in their Metal Fest DLC series, this time featuring two of rock music's most revered names.
Joining previously featured icons like Eddie of Iron Maiden lore and the definitive Vic Rattlehead of Megadeth iconography, the latest Metal Fest DLC will feature both Lemmy Kilmister and Rob Zombie as playable 3D commanders - upping the ante with regards to integrated gameplay and the marriage of heavy artillery and heavy music.
Embracing the tough as nails, loud as hell reputation of all things Motörhead, World of Tanks Modern Armor also features the band's mascot Warpig as a playable 3D Commander for this edition of their Metal Fest package. In addition to band specific cosmetics and skins, players can customize their tanks and adorn their war machines with band imagery while laying waste to the opposition.
The estate of Motörhead spoke about the special release, “Modern technology has enabled us to have Lemmy fully integrated into the game, which felt appropriate given that this is exactly the sort of game he played and avidly enjoyed.”
Speaking on the specifics of the gaming design and the integration of the iconic figures into the World of Tanks universe, the game's audio designer Bredan Blewett explained, “Motörhead guided the development of both the Warpig and Lemmy voices. For Lemmy, it was obvious that using a sound-alike would lack an important level of authenticity. So, we collaborated with the band to create an A.I. emulation of Lemmy‘s voice, based on original voice samples from his private unpublished archives, including interviews and raw in-booth recordings.”
The Metal Fest event for World of Tanks kicks of July 30th and runs through August 20th. Get more information and access the DLC - HERE
