Alex Terrible Talks Fighting, Fatherhood and Living Fearlessly on the Ariel Helwani Show

- By Ramon Gonzales -->

Ahead of his Blood4Blood BKFC bout, the Slaughter to Prevail frontman kept it all too real during his recent interview.

In the thick of Slaughter to Prevail's current North American headlining trek and the promotional run up to the inaugural Blood4Blood Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship card in association with Danny WImmer Presents, frontman Alex Terrible is proving his ability to take on all tasks.

Guesting on the combat sports authority, The Ariel Helwani Show, Alex Terrible sat in for a comprehensive interview with celebrated MMA journalist Ariel Helwani. The in-studio appearance found Terrible carving out time in between a rigorous touring and training schedule that spans everything from headlining performances, fan meet-and-greets and regular sparring all in a day's work.

In fact, for Alex, the appearance on the Ariel Helwani show took place just hours before he was scheduled to headline New York's legendary Hammerstein Ballroom in support of the deathcore giant's celebrated 2025 full length, Grizzly.

Quickly adjusting to a bit of a heavy music learning curve, Helwani proved the consummate journalist, touching on Alex's hectic schedule and his ability to juggle such a demanding workload. Dissecting the nuance of deathcore, Alex explained how the demands have proven taxing, but was quick to reiterate his commitments and gratitude to the fans that continue to turn up and make Slaughter to Prevail such a juggernaut in their space.

The candid, comprehensive discussion touched on Alex recently becoming a father and the kind of transformative impact that has had on the frontman and fighter. Even going so far as to rechristen Alex Terrible, "Alex Wonderful," the conversation pointed to the vocalist's renewed sense of purpose and the humanity that might overshadowed by his larger than life persona.

Terrible further drew parallels between combat sports and extreme music, emphasizing that while he understood he is anything but normal, there is a sense of gratification he gets from pushing himself to the limits with adversity. Terrible provided some insight on his origin story - explaining how he evolved from a frail, fearful child to a rebellious teen. He also shared how that defiance would lead to dark places that eventually steered towards drugs and an overdose at 19 - an experience that he explains was hugely pivotal.

The confrontation with his own mortality would prompt Alex to perform an about face, deciding then and there that he would no longer blame shift nor waste his time - he would determine his own destiny with the kind of fearlessness that could only come from meeting death and getting a second chance.

From his brushes with the law in his native Russia over personal politics, to his fascination with heavy music from an early age, to the controversies and missteps that have nearly derailed his successes, the conversational common thread seemed to be Terrible's understanding embraces the full scope of life with no regrets.

Acknowledging shame with certain decisions, Terrible was asked more than once by Helwani if he had any regrets - to which the fighter and frontman confided that he did not. Emphasizing the value of experience, Terrible explained that among the good, the bad and the ugly, every step along the way has proven valuable in helping him to evolve into who he is today - a father, a fighter and a frontman from a small village in Russia that has stared down adversity and will always have a punchers chance.
