The Swedish Viking metal lords have begun their epic run with Ghost on the 2023 Re-Imperatour.

The Swedish Viking metal lords have begun their epic run with Ghost on the 2023 Re-Imperatour.

Following a dominate showing for this year’s summer festival season across Europe, Amon Amarth have debuted a new music video for the track, “Heidrun” featured on their universally. acclaimed 2022 full length, The Great Heathen Army.

Directed by Pavel Trebukhin, the clip frames a tragic accident that sees Amon Amarth meeting their final fate in this life, only to make their passage into the gates of Valhalla to hoist drinking horns in celebration with those waiting for them with open arms in the afterlife.

Amon Amarth frontman Johann Hegg, details the mythology of “Heidrun”, the importance an actual goat plays into the latest release and how the meaning of the song is applicable to musicians living on the road.

“Heidrun is an interesting mythological character, it’s a goat that stands on the roof of Valhalla eating the leaf of the big tree Lärad. The milk that she gives is the honey/mead that the warriors in Valhalla drink each night. The lyrics themselves are both about Vikings traveling the world but also metaphorically what it is to be a touring musician.”

Along with the new visual, Amon Amarth have delivered a fresh, four-track digital single to commemorate the launch of “Heidrun”. The release includes a newly remixed cut of the original album version, in addition to a “goat remix” which features, actual goat vocals throughout.

The remaining tracks on the release capture the live prowess of one of the best stage shows in the game, featuring a live rendition of “Heidrun” as performed at this year’s Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium. There is also a live rendition of a new classic from Amon Amarth, with the 2023 Hellfest performance of “Put Your Back Into the Oar” also included.

The release lands as Amon Amarth begin their gargantuan trek along with GHOST for the 2023 Re-Imperatour USA run. In addition to the massive North American jaunt, Amon Amarth have confirmed two special headlining plays. The Viking lords will takeover Omaha, NE on August 10th with support from Creeping Death and 200 Stab Wounds and will then invade Riverside, CA on September 9th with support from Gatecreeper.
