The mighty Amon Amarth have returned with another thunderous preview from the pending full length, The Allfather Awakens. Following "Gjallarhorn" dropped earlier this summer and the acoustic epic in "Upphaf" which set the table, the pillars of Viking metal have submitted another anthem with the reveal of "Eight Legs of Thunder".
The band's ode to Sleipnir, Odin's eight-legged steed, the track combines Amon Amarth's unmatched metallic muscle with their showcase of Norse mythology. For the accompanying music video, the band entrusted Dariusz Szermanowicz to bring to life the vision that pairs the lore with the gritty aesthetic of the Old West.
The director explained how the project was intended to be distinct. "With 'Eight Legs Of Thunder', together with the band, we wanted to break the traditional metal music video mold once again. We fused the raw, dusty vibe of a modern western with the epic, dark mythology of Odin’s eight-legged steed. It’s a high-octane, cinematic ride packed with cowboy tension, raw action, and a touch of dark humor. We didn’t just want to make a music video - we wanted to deliver a visual knockout.”
Guitarist Olavi Mikkonen spoke to the creative process of the record. "We worked on one song at a time and made each song as good as possible. Then we recorded one song at a time until each track was totally finished--drums, guitars, and vocals. Only then did we start on the next one."
Presenting the magnitude of The Allfather Awakens live, Amon Amarth will be touring throughout Europe and the United Kingdom later this year with support from Orbit Culture and Soilwork. A confirmed list of dates and cities can be found below. Tickets are available - HERE
