Viking metal stalwarts Amon Amarth continue to steamroll even as the year winds down. Just last week the band announced their biggest North American headlining trek to date with the confirmation of the Metal Crushes All Tour.
Recruiting a stellar ensemble of support, the spring 2024 run will feature Amon Amarth flanked by Cannibal Corpse, Obituary and emerging Teas brutalizers Frozen Soul in what will no doubt be one of the most anticipated runs of the new year.
Harnessing the momentum of the tour confirmation, Amon Amarth has delivered yet another cinematic epic of a music video, this time showcasing the standout "Saxons and Vikings" from their acclaimed 2022 full length, The Great Heathen Army.
Enlisting director Pavel Trebukhin, the visual features British heavy metal legend Biff Byford of Saxon, who is also a guest vocalist on the track. Side-by-side with bandmates Paul Quinn and Doug Scarratt, the clip frames a tense showdown against Olavi Mikkonen, Ted Lundstroem, Johan Soederberg, Johan Hegg, and Jocke Wallgren of Amon Amarth as each lead their side onto the battlefield.
Amon Amarth's Johann Hegg shared of the release, "Recording this song with the legends from SAXON was amazing. It was such an honor to have them on this track, and to shoot a video with them was so much fun. I think the video came out great, really epic. It captures the essence of the song perfectly and the fight scenes are awesome!"
The arrival of "Saxons and Vikings" punctuates a breakout year for Amon Amarth and leads into what will be a banner 2024. In addition to the Metal Crushes All Tour, which will include stops at Red Rock Amphitheatre and an arena finale at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA., Amon Amarth will also serve as one of the headliners of 2024's Bloodstock Open Air, anchoring the band's European festival season next year.
