AVOID Signs to UNFD: Debuts Blistering New Single, "Burn"

- By Ramon Gonzales

Get the details on the band's first release since 2022's Cult Mentality and their upcoming EU/UK trek with Silent Planet, Like Moths to Flames and Vexed.

Emerging as one of the most exciting and equally promising new bands from the Pacific Northwest, AVOID are out to make their mark on loud, aggressive music with the news of their recent signing to UNFD.

Following the acclaim of their 2022 full length, Cult Mentality, the band has gone on to collect converts with their highly charged live shows, trekking as support for bands like Silverstein, Dayseeker and The Devil Wears Prada just to name a few.

Underscoring the band's rising stock, AVOID are celebrating their new venture with UNFD with the release of their first showing of new music since 2022 with the arrival of the explosive single, "Burn".

Vocalist Benny Scholl shared his excitement of the fresh start for the band. "Personally, I feel like this is a great representation of a more mature version of our sound. We've been hard at work with these new tunes for the past couple of years now, and I couldn't think of a better way to introduce this next era of AVOID than this."

Scholl added how the song's inception gave him plenty of reason to be optimistic about the band's path moving forward. "'Burn' is honestly the most excited I've ever been to release a new song. I remember when [guitarist] Chris [Echols] and I were tracking the demo vocals in our tiny little apartment at like 1am annoying all our neighbors and not even remotely caring cause I was so beyond stoked with what we were coming up with. I hope you all enjoy jamming it as much as we did making it."

As for the personal narrative loaded on the track, Scholl explains how the meaning is universal and truly applies to everyone navigating the peaks and valleys of life. "'Burn' is a song about the internal battles we face sometimes. I feel like especially as an artist, but really just as people in general we all have our own experiences of facing the highest of highs, and also the lowest of lows, and sometimes I think we all just want to 'set it off, let it all burn' — how about that for a little lyrical callback!! I hope this song can be a positive light for everyone, but especially anyone that might be going through it a little bit right now."

Along with the news of the signing, AVOID has already lined up plans for a big start to 2025. Setting out on the Superbloom tour supporting Silent Planet, AVOID will join Like Moths to Flames and Vexed for a succession of EU/UK dates starting in January.
