Anchoring AXS TV's 'Heavy Metal Halloween programming slate, the network will air the comprehensive rock doc, Metal Massacre: The Story Behind the Legendary Album. The film is scheduled to air on October 28th at 9pm ET and sits between additional programming that includes profiles on genre royalty like Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath and even includes Judas Priest's iconic showing at Wacken Festival 2015.
The documentary compiles comprehensive interviews from an ensemble of all-stars, bolstered by rare photos and first hand accounts to tell the story of the groundbreaking 1982 Metal Massacre vinyl compilation.
Started with the intent of showcasing the thriving, burgeoning metal scene of Los Angeles in the early 80s, the album featured entries from the likes of Metallica and Ratt, and is considered the catalyst for the band's legendary careers. Spearheaded by cultural pillar and one of metal music's most enduring advocates, Brian Slagel was at the helm of the compilation project which served as the inception of his pioneering record label, Metal Blade Records.
