With the start of their busy 2024 touring slate just a couple of weeks away, the collective of Better Lovers featuring the ensemble of Jordan Buckley, Clayton “Goose” Holyoak, Stephen Micciche, Greg Puciato and Will Putney have delivered an explosive new track as a preview of what to expect on the run.
"The Flowering" showcases the signature punch of the band's instrumental core, while creating a canvas for Puciato to deliver a dynamic vocal performance. He spoke further about the latest showing from the band.
“’The Flowering” is a song we’ve been playing live since day one. It came from the same batch as the God Made Me An Animal EP, so it’s nice to finally have it recorded and out there. It’s a perfect example of how Jordan, Mitch, Goose, and Will playing together sounds like an absolute freight train.
Puciato further explained how the band's live dynamic serves to better strengthen their songwriting, as was the case with "The Flowering". "Being able to play this live so many times before recording it really amplified that even more, really deepened the groove of it, the music swings so fucking hard. Not to mention the video is one of my favorite videos I’ve ever been a part of. The title and lyrics are an obvious metaphor for realizing that we are all more than what we’re conditioned to believe, and acknowledging the collective ‘waking up’ moment that we all seem to be going through right now.”
The single also serves to tide fans over while the band finishes work on their full length debut. Better Lovers returned to the studio in January, completing sessions for the eagerly awaited album via SharpTone Records. Details are expected to be revealed soon.
The movement within the Better Lover camp precedes the band's upcoming touring slate that will see live dates across North America and Europe. The band's itinerary will feature both their own headlining dates as well as festival plays both domestic and international. The North American tour begins April 18th in Indianapolis, IN and features support from SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Foreign Hands and Greyhaven. See the complete list of dates and cities below.
