According to a report filed by the Baltimore Banner, former/founding Turnstile guitarist Brady Ebert is now facing a possible life sentence following an indictment from a Montgomery County grand jury of attempter first-degree murder.
The charges stem from a March 29th incident in Silver Spring, MD, in which Ebert allegedly attacked 79-year old William Yates, father of Turnstile frontman Brendan Yates, with his 2001 Buick LeSabre.
According to Montgomery County police, Ebert was antagonizing the elder Yates and after swerving aggressively towards him, he eventually pulled into the residential driveway striking Yates and causing significant injuries.
Ebert has maintained his innocence stating previously that, “This is pure self-defense." Ebert even asserted that the Yates' were on the offensive, "They’re the attackers.”
Ebert has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault and has now received an additional charge of attempted first-degree murder. The musician now faces a potential life sentence if he is convicted.
Turnstile split with Ebert in 2022 citing “a consistent pattern of harmful behavior affecting himself, the band, and the community.” According to police reports, William Yates told investigators that Ebert had been harassing the Yates family since the split.
