With the dust settling on the 2026 Grammys, among the more interesting takeaways include yet another strange omission - or rather - a pair.
While the ceremony included an all-star tribute to Ozzy Osbourne that featured Post Malone, Slash, Duff Makagan, Chad Smith and Andrew Watt, along with on-screen tributes to the likes of Ace Frehley, Bob Weir of Grateful Dead, Brian James of The Damned, David Johansen of New York Dolls and more, there were two very big names that never got their flowers.
Among the names omitted from the Grammys' In Memoriam, Brent Hinds of Mastodon along with Sam Rivers of Limp Bizkit were not included during the broadcast. The omission prompted commentary from the likes of Mike Inez of Alice in Chains taking to his socials to share, “BIG party foul Grammys for forgetting the MIGHTY Brent Hinds in the In Memoriam." The take prompted similar sentiment from the likes of Mastodon dummer Brann Dailor and Exodus/Slayer guitarist, Gary Holt.
Hinds won a Grammy with Mastodon in 2018 for Best Metal Performance for "Sultan's Curse" from the Emperor of Sand record. Mastodon has also been nominated several times by the Recording Academy. As for Rivers, while Limp Bizkit has yet to earn any hardware, the band secured three different nominations during their early 2000s run including Best Hard Rock Performance for "Nookie" (2000), Best Rock Album for Significant Other (2000) and Best Hard Rock Performance for "Take A Look Around" in 2001.
