Genre-blurring powerhouse Calva Louise continues to showcase their artistic vision and creative breadth en route to the July 11th arrival of their next full length, Edge of the Abyss.
Earlier this spring the band confirmed their signing to Mascot Records, all the while unleashing an immersive series of visual, cinematic triumphs, revealing segments of the comprehensive story arc that brings Edge of the Abyss together. With all clips conceptualized and directed by the band's own Jess Allanic, entries including"W.T.F," "La Corriente" and "Under The Skin" underscore Calva Louise's unique depth and thematic scope.
Issuing another glowing example of the band's artistry, "Impeccable" fuses elements of punk, metal, and electronica on a single that serves as the sequel to "W.T.F." and further unveils the saga of the album's protagonist, Louise in a overarching story that traverses interdimensional travel, altered reality and parallel existence.
Speaking to the bigger meaning and the metaphor of the track, "It is about that feeling of powerlessness that occurs when we are in situations beyond our control," says Allanic.
In addition to the latest preview of Edge of the Abyss, Calva Louise has firmed up a September US tour, joining forces with agitator Mike's Dead and SICKSENSE for the 18 Nights in the U.S.A. tour. The trek begins September 3rd in San Francisco and wraps September 28th in Chicago. A list of dates and cities can be found below. Get tickets - HERE
As for the full length release due out July 11th via Mascot Records, the album's fundamental message speaks to the origin story of Allanic as a driven, creative force. Emigrating from Venezuela to France as a teenager to pursue her musical passion, chance and circumstance would lead Allanic to cross paths with Alizon Taho. The two would travel from France to play shows in the UK with nothing more than a sincere want to explore their creative kinship. Eventually meeting with drummer and New Zealand export Ben Parker who was on a similar exploratory journey, the band's foundation was solidified and has since, never looked back.
"Our album is called Edge of the Abyss because that's how we live. One misstep and everything could fall apart," Allanic says. "I emigrated twice, so I've already had a culture shock twice. This hurts a little less because this is where I want to be. I have nowhere to go back to," she finishes.
