Doubling down on the aggressive first reveal last month in "Blind Side Sonny", Coheed and Cambria have confirmed their next full length album with the announcement of The Father of Make Believe.
The album further immerses fans in the The Amory Wars / Vaxis universe, and builds on the narrative established on the 2022 album Vaxis Act II: A Window of the Waking Mind. The album marks the 10th full length studio release and arrives March 13th, 2025 via Virgin Music Group.
Paired with the news of the pending release, Coheed and Cambria have issued a second preview from the album with the incendiary single, "Searching For Tomorrow". Anchored by Claudio Sanchez's unmistakable prowess and those incredible guitars, the single emphasizes how Coheed remains one of one.
As for the message of the latest track, Sanchez offered a simple explanation of the track, one that resonates with everyone. "This song is a reminder that always looking for something better in your life robs you of being able to appreciate the good things you already have."
Working with director Anthony Scheppard, Coheed has released an epic new animated visual for "Searching For Tomorrow" that underscores the continued depth of one of rock music's most inventive, imaginative bands.
Sanchez went onto explain how The Father of Make Believe presented some personal challenges, yet afforded the musician a chance to grow and creatively. "With every album I try to ‘outdo’ the one before, or at least make something that sounds different and evolved in some way. I think that initial struggle added to the feeling of having a kind of musical midlife crisis…this constant internal battle of searching for creative release and growth…the being unsure if it’s the right path. This one took more effort in the beginning, but in the end I think the digging was worth it for the subsequent surge.”
The Vaxis Act III: The Father of Make Believe will also be released as a limited edition box set. The collection includes a CD and digital download along with exclusive items, including Blind Side Sonny's fully wearable and functional helmet, neuro-dynamic display goggles, Vaxis Act III: The Father of Make Believe hardcover illustrated novella coffee table book, neuro-dynamic display goggles app for display customization, 11.5” x 35” Vaxis III: The Father of Make Believe bedroom poster and a signed Death Certificate of Siv Trafinder - all a part of The Amory Wars / Vaxis story arc.
