Having already issued one of the best albums of 2026 thus far, Converge continues to assert heir artistry with the announcement of a second full length album just months after the release of the universally acclaimed, Love Is Not Enough.
Hum of Hurt, will mark the band's second studio album in the same year, due out June 5th via Deathwish Inc./ Epitaph. Again recorded with Kurt Ballou, the second full length was the result of the band's most recent recording sessions that would ultimately result in a pair of separate, albeit equally cathartic projects. “When we came together to write, we ended up with a wealth of material,” vocalists Jacob Bannon explained. “As work progressed we realized we had created two separate albums, and treated them as such.”
Sourcing the real-life phenomenon of The Hum, Converge examined the persistent, low-frequency "hum" that has plagued locations like Ipswich, Massachusetts; Auckland, New Zealand; Windsor, Ontario and Taos, New Mexico and turned it into something metaphysical. The idea resonated in a way that spawned an album. “What if 'The Hum' is the culmination of all the pain in the world, creating an audible signal across the universe?” shared Bannon. “Something noticeable to others operating on a similar emotional plane.”
Introducing the ambitious second full length studio album, Converge has shared an unsettling new music video for the title track. A combination of frantic riffs, dynamic percussion and the urgency of Bannon's vocals, the track is another shining example of Converge's evolving prowess and enduring power.
Emphasizing the distinction between Love Is Not Enough and Hum of Hurt, Bannon insists that while the two albums are only released months apart, “It’s not a sequel,” Bannon explains. “The unifying musical idea early on was, ‘Let’s make a noise rock album.’ But we never really did. The first one wasn’t. This one touches on that spirit, but it’s much more dynamic than that descriptor. To me, it leans more into being an emotional hardcore album, while Love Is Not Enough feels more metal leaning album. In the end, we simply gave creative birth to another Converge record with its own unique identity and character.”
Converge are currently on tour in support of Love Is Not Enough. The band has several dates with Poison the Well and will continue overseas this summer for a slate of European festival dates including appearances at Outbreak Festival and Resurrection Festival among many others.
