Last month, Massachusetts lineage joined forces as Dropkick Murphys teamed with surging hardcore hitters Haywire to announce their split EP, New England Forever.
Going from tourmates to comrades, the collaborative project finds each band issuing three new original songs and a cover rendition of one of each other's tracks as a tip of the hat. Haywire recorded Dropkick Murphys’ “The Boys Are Back” and Dropkick Murphys recorded Haywire’s “Always By My Side.”
The 12" split will be available at the upcoming dates of the For The People…In The Pit St. Patrick’s Day Tour. The run begins February 9th and wraps March 17th with five consecutive nights in Boston - continuing an annual tradition for Dropkick, this time recruiting Haywire and dirty reggae vets The Aggrolites for the run.
Among the highlights of the split project include the most recently released Dropkick Murphys’ “Citizen I.C.E.” - a reimagined version of the 2005 classic “Citizen C.I.A."
Now, the tandem have issued the repurposed classic, offering scathing social commentary as immigration and customs enforcement raids continue in Minnesota and in other major cities across the country.
“As Americans are being executed in the street, we feel it is our duty to raise consciousness, and be one of the voices speaking against this nightmare. CITIZEN I.C.E. is FOR THE PEOPLE. Stand strong against tyranny. Use it however you want.
In Solidarity, with Love, Dropkick Murphys”
