Last month, Portland’s metallic hardcore phenoms Dying Wish confirmed the November 3rd arrival date of their eagerly-awaited full length via SharpTone Records with the announcement of Symptoms of Survival. Debuting a pair of potent previews in “Torn From Your Silhouette” and “Watch My Promise Die“, Dying Wish continues to ride hard for golden era metalcore with their latest, “Lost In the Fall”.
In the vein of staples like Unearth’s The Oncoming Storm, Shadows Fall’s Thoughts Without Words and even early Killswitch Engage, the current iteration of Dying Wish taps into the Y2K-era of American heavy music – bridging metal prowess and hardcore ethos into the same potent package.
Sourcing Randy LeBoeuf to produce the project, Dying Wish, now three singles deep, have more than substantiated their hype and affirmed they are sitting on one of the most anticipated records of the year with good reason.
Speaking to the context of the track, the band’s vocalist Emma Boster shared, “‘Lost in the Fall’ is written about the natural untangling of a friendship or a relationship with someone over time. It’s about letting go of control and accepting your fate and failure in love. Imagine the feeling in your throat and gut when you know things are coming to an end. Surrender to that feeling and face the direction of moving on.”
The track adds to the swell of momentum for Dying Wish, as the band also recently confirmed their extensive fall headlining, Come and Be Killed by Dying Wish headlining tour. The run will include supporting sets from Boundaries, Omerta, Foreign Hands, Gates to Hell, Excide and Roman Candle. The trek kicks of October 20th in Santa Cruz and closes out on December 2nd with a completely sold out show at Chain Reaction in Anaheim, CA.
