Ascending New England aggressors Escuela Grind have confirmed the January 12th arrival of the final EP in their planned trilogy with the confirmation of DDEEAATHHMMEETTAALL.
The four track presentation asserts the band's volatile concoction of bombastic death grind, recorded with Will Killingsworth and mixed by the GRAMMY-winning Kurt Ballou. Adding some additional firepower to the onslaught, the EP will also include a special guest assist from the legendary Barney Greenway of Napalm Death on the EP finale, "Meat Magnet".
Offering a preview of the pummel packaged on the EP, Escuela Grind have shared a new video for the track, "Ball and Chain". Captured live during the band's recent tour in Mexico City, director Michael Jari Davidson frames Escuela Grind's clobbering live delivery.
'DDEEAATHHMMEETTAALL' is the third installment of our EP series where we dive into the genres that most influence this band," shared vocalist Katerina Economou."Finishing this trilogy has been years in the works. We are so excited to release these songs as they are perhaps the best reflection of our live performance. The stage has honed these hectic songs to perfection."
Economou added of the introductory single, "Originally we were going to have three songs on this EP, but we wanted to create another track that had a huge buildup. This eventually developed into this brutal song, "Ball and Chain", that marks the point in our live shows where we have a wall of death every night. Lyrically, it references death metal tropes of murder and revenge, but with a decidedly feminine angle."
The arrival of the final EP in the series completes the effort that began back in 2020 with the debut of 'PPOOWWEERRVVIIOOLLEENNCCEE' and 'GGRRIINNDDCCOORREE' - serving as tribute to the variety of stylistic influences that have resulted in the band's weighty amalgam.
Additionally, Escuela Grind have solidified their rep as one of the hardest working bands in the game. Coinciding with the release of their next EP, the band is hitting the road for an extensive 39-date headlining trek which kicks off January 10th and concludes February 17th in Boston, MA. The run will include rotating support from Take Offense, Come Meirda, Slow Pulse, Bonginator, Frog Mallet, and Brat. A complete list of dates and cities can be found below.
