Earlier this year, metal marked the return of one its most beloved, gamechanging bands of the last generation. 25 years since the release of their lauded studio debut, Spit, Kittie ushered in their modern era, announcing their signing to Sumerian Records and debuting their first showing of new music in well over a decade.
Working with accomplished producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Alice In Chains, Korn), "Eyes Wide Open" marked the band's first new offering in 13 years. Kittie would then double down with second powerful single in "We Are Shadows" - With the band's signature heft and poignant lyrical breadth on full display, emphasizing that not only was Kittie back, but they were operating at arguably their very best yet.
Now, the band has confirmed the highly-anticipated news of their first full length studio album in well over a decade. Fire, the first album in 13 years from Kittie is due out June 21st via Sumerian Records and marks a significant turning point in the already storied career of the metal music trailblazers.
Kittie guitarist and vocalist Morgan Lander explains, "10 years ago, if someone would have told us that we would be releasing new Kittie music in 2024, we’d have dismissed them right away. It feels like something deeper than fate that’s brought us together again, allowing us to create something fearless and magical for you. We’ve worked incredibly hard over the past year, and surrounded ourselves with the ultimate dream team to make this album a reality. We cannot wait for you to lose yourselves in the passion and strength of ‘Fire’."
Coupled with the announcement of the new album, Kittie has debuted a third single from the presentation with their latest, "Vultures". Sourcing live-shot footage from the band's highly-touted showing at Sick New World In Las Vegas last month, the visual underscores the ferocity of the band that has reemerged with a new vigor, a new focus and the same volatility that first propelled them to stardom a generation ago.
Reiterating the kind of fearlessness that has always been a hallmark of Kittie, Lander details the message of their latest single and how the track is indicative of the band's headspace moving forward. "Vultures is a bold musical declaration, signalling our new beginnings as a band. Vultures is a warning to those with hidden agendas, who thrive on deception. It’s a proclamation of breaking free of the chains of exploitation and a reckoning for those who pick at the bones of those who suffer in silence."
As Kittie press ahead toaward the June 21st release date of the pivotal album, the band has steadily added more festival dates to their itinerary with confirmed plays at Welcome to Rockville, Sonic Temple and Festival d'Été de Québec later this summer just to name a few.
In addition to the band's festival calendar, Kittie has also announced headlining plans of their own. Dubbed simply, Fire 2024, Kittie will set out on a focused run of headlining dates, touching down in select markets in North America this summer.
The slate of headlining dates will feature an outstanding collection of supporting sets from the likes of Unearth, Upon A Burning Body, Vile Creature, Within the Ruins, VCTMS, Conquer Divide and more. See a current list of dates and cities below. Get tickets - HERE
