Genre-smashing firebrand Mike's Dead has followed his emphatic start on the year with the confrontational single "War" with yet another compelling entry. This time exploring the opposite end of the emotional spectrum, though with no less heft, Mike's Dead indulges a much more provocative angle with his latest submission "Bestrafe Mich (Punish Me)".
The indulgent, rock-intensive cut allows Mike's Dead to further explore his heavier songwriting sensibilities and lean into a seductive slant that makes for a captivating effort.
Speaking of the new single, Mike explained how his latest cut presents the most complete version of himself creatively thus far. "Bestrafe Mich (Punish Me) is just raw, aggressive sexual energy. Lately, I feel like each release grows in power and ambition and Bestrafe Mich is probably one of the most "Mike's Dead" songs I've ever released."
Mike further explained how the track developed organically as an initial idea began to snowball. "I have to be honest I didn't set out with the intention of writing a song like this; Bestrafe Mich started in my notes on my phone. I think I was driving and I remember thinking "punish me would be a really sick song name" and then googled the German translation for it. Weeks later I was working w/ my friend Jonathan who co-produced this with me, and everything just clicked. I wrote that pre chorus "I want you nails under my skin" part in maybe 3 minutes.
It was one of those songs that just flowed out instantly and I think that translates to being a phenomenal end product. Insanely excited for people to hear this one (especially live) and get weird."
The tantalizing single lands as Mike's Dead continues on the GodMode Tour supporting In This Moment, Kim Dracula and I See Stars. Additionally, Mike's Dead is set to join Motionless In White for a run of supporting dates, along with confirmed appearances at Welcome to Rockville, Sonic Temple, Louder Than Life and Aftershock Festival all this year.
