Punk icons NOFX have shared their first digital release of the year and true to form, skip the metaphor and subtleties. "Minnesota Nazis" arrives as a digital release and offers sharp, biting commentary amid ongoing ICE raids that have Minnesota and many other American cities under siege.
Frontman Fat Mike Burkett explained, “I wrote a song called "Huntington Beach Nazis" in 2022 when I spent 6 sober weeks there. There's actually an intersection of Rhein and Heil streets. Kinda weird.... anyway, after all the recent heartbreaks in Minnesota, I decided to change some lyrics in the song and release it digitally. I even changed the title of the song to 'Minnesota Nazis'. I reckon it's appropriate.
This song isn't gonna stop the absolute madness.... but you do what you can to make this world a better place. Let's look out for each other the best we can. Love > Hate..... even though it doesn't seem like it right now....”
As for the retired NOFX, the band recently announced their comprehensive documentary, 40 Years of Fuckin Up. The film examines the band's lengthy career, their DIY ethos and the sometimes tumultuous twists and turns that would have likely derailed other bands multiple times over. Not submitting to SXSW in time for consideration, NOFX is crashing the film festival portion this year by hosting their own screenings of the film throughout Austin, TX this March.
